The formation and development of market economy brought to the growth of activity in business community of the country.
In spite of all the difficulties the economic elite of Armenia, as well as nationally oriented business are ready to discuss openly problems of new formed national economy, suggesting concrete ways of solutions and mechanisms of their implementation.
The International Economic Forum “Bridge 2010” is one of evidences which shows readiness of Armenian business community and Government to draw the country out of crisis together.
One of the main goals of Forum “Bridge 2010” is to estimate the role of Armenian economy in the region and design the ways of its further development.
Objectively estimating the existing situation, the participants of International Economic Forum “Bridge 2010” consider that the design of social-economic development strategy and overcoming the consequences of international economic crisis should become the prior task of the Government of RA and the business community. The strategy should be aimed at providing economic growth and contribute to implementation of innovative national industrial policy.
Taking into account the aforementioned strategy principle, the participants of the Forum suggested to draw the government`s attention on problems stated below:
• To provide the stability of financial system and make the system more effective for businessmen
• To provide diversification of the economy
• To use the prospects of European market for Armenian goods
• The competency privilege of present-day Armenia should be directly connected with human recourses and the institutions of person development.
For reaching such objectives, as well as for implementation of effective reforms the participants of International Economic Forum “Bridge 2010” made the following recommendations.
Recommendations at round-table ''National economic interests''
• To provide equal tax field, at the same time to implement strong punishability
• To provide a system of certification in concordance with international standards, which will contribute to free export of domestic products to new markets
• To use the resources of Diaspora to make Armenia more attractive for investments
• To draw RA Government`s attention on periodic changes and rising in price of railway transportation
• To provide transparency of investments
• Revision of prepayment system of profit tax
• To provide transparency of customs procedures, as well as to eliminate the system of oriented prices during customs executions
• Together with the experts of World Bank to work out mechanisms contributing to export
Recommendations at round-table ''Development of informational space in Armenia: infra structure and technologies''
• To create a 100 megabyte network for consumers
• Тo implement a program ''A computer for everyone''
• Electronic cards for transfers in safe environment
• Development of informational society in Armenia
• To provide accessibility of informational system for Armenian citizens
• Using of information and telecommunication technologies for the development of the country
• Rise of level of education, medical service and social security by means of informational technologies
• To provide the development of prior directions of science, techniques and technologies on the base of long-term development of technologies
Recommendations at round-table '' Prospects of Armenia to become regional financial centre in the post crisis environment''
• To provide development of a system of payment by written order
• To take actions aimed at reducing the level of dollarization
• To improve the judicial and legal system aimed at protecting consumers' rights
Recommendations at round-table “Mortgage and housing as catalysts of economic growth”
• The departments should be in the role of customers and builders, but building should be regulated by the Ministry of town planning of RA
• In the base of price accounts should lie not the price base dated to 1984, but a new price base should be worked out to correspond to the new approaches
• Tax simplification and reasonable investments into building
• To raise the level of development of the technical control mechanisms of building
• To distribute responsibility for the general results of level among investors, projectors and builders
• To create a great scientific centre in Armenia
• To raise the level of education of projecting and building personnel
• Development of mortgage market, long-term and low percentage as guarantees for house building
• To implement mechanisms of subsidizing mortgage credits on part of the Government of RA for definite social groups
• To create favorable conditions for native businessmen to participate in the international tenders on state level
Recommendations at round-table ''Necessity of state-private partnership in the tourism development of Armenia
• Importance of railways in the development of tourism and notion of the problems of accessibility of transport
• To provide cooperation between the representatives of all kinds of transport and tourism sphere. For these goals achievement to organize a meeting for the representatives of Ministry of Economy of RA, South Caucasus Railways and air transport service and tourist operators in 2 weeks
• For South Caucasus Railways in cooperation with USAID Caps program to discuss the problem of further training of conductors
Recommendations at round-table ''Effective management in conditions of post crisis development''
• To reduce the influence of crisis the innovation programs concerning different spheres must be presented in market; such as technical, organizing, marketing programs, as well as decisions concerning the staff reorganization
• To strengthen the role of government in anti-recessionary regulation in the near future, first of all by means of creation of programs of development as well as mechanisms of innovation investments
• State policy should be directed also on creation of competitive national leaders at the international market, which will provide the development of whole national economy
Recommendations at round-table “Small business in the big world”
• For the development of small and average enterprises the accessibility of financial aids and reduction of credit percentage is very important
• To reduce the number of inspections in small and average enterprises
• In case of state purchasing to prefer native producer if the offer is more expensive (up to 15 per cent)
Recommendations at round-table “The problems and prospects of food export”
• To improve the constitutional field for agricultural product industries
• To create specialized structures for exporting agricultural products
• To create acting infrastructures for carrying the agricultural products from the field to consumer
Recommendations at round-table “Goals, tasks and priorities of transport strategy of Armenia”
• To develop cooperation with South Caucasus Railways
• To improve legal field in transport system
• The necessity to accept the legislative act “About forwarders’ activities”
Recommendations at round-table “Legal and law aspects of modern business”
• To create a law basis for short-term leasing (up to 6 months), providing simplified procedure
• To follow the law of “basis of management and administrative production” during the inspections, including
A. To follow precise time-frames
B. To forbid formal requirements abuse
C. To distribute the implementation of the law among all the management authorities including State non trade organizations
• To take steps for making the law projects more accessible for the society an business, organizing social discussions (in concordance with the law)
• To improve tax legislation
All the above-mentioned statements could become the basis for designing strategy program, aimed at providing real economic growth.
The participants of the Forum entrust the Org committee to present these recommendations to corresponding legislative and executive authorities, as well as to present the results of the Forum in Mass media, providing feedback with the society.
VI International Economic Forum BRIDGE 2009
As usual, every February the small skiing resort Tsakhkadzor in Armenia hospitably welcomes the officials, representatives of business circles from different countries – participants of annual International Economic Forum.
For 3 days – from 20 to 23 of February 2009, the skiing resort Tsakhkadzor becomes economic capital of the region. The events of the Forum: sectoral and plenary sits, presentations, round tables were conducted in the more than 10 different areas, in the comfortable and equipped conference halls and meeting rooms. More than 400 participants of “BRIDGE” were settled in 7 the most comfortable hotels and rest houses in Tsakhkadzor. The whole town was involved in the events of the Forum. On the streets and on the main square of Tsakhkadzor were performed colourful shows with the participation of Armenian folklore personage.
At the grand opening of Annual International Economic Forum “BRIDGE” took part the prime minister of RA Tigran Sarkisyan. During the plenary session Mr. Sarkisyan made a speech on the theme: «International economic cooperation – New politic».
Also on the plenary session were represented the welcome speech of the chair of Russian part of Intergovernmental commission of economic cooperation between Russian Federation and Republic of Armenia, minister of transport of Russian Federation I.Levitin (the speech was read by the official representative of Trade Chamber of RF in Armenia M.Volgina).
The head of Industrial Policy and PSD Branch, UNIDO Secretariat, Vienna, Austria Mr. Monhamed-Lamine Dhaoui welcomed the participants of Forum.
Minister of international and foreign economic relations of Sverdlovsk region Mr. A.Kharlov welcomed the participants of Forum on behalf of Sverdlovsk region government.
Minister of Finance of RA Tigran Davtyan, Minister of Economic of RA Nerses Yeritsyan took part in the work of the Forum. Also the representatives of diplomatic missions in Armenia, such as Austria, Bulgaria, Belarus, Brazil, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, Romania, Syria, Ukraine participated in the VI International Economic Forum BRIDGE.
VI International Economic Forum BRIDGE gathered more than participants from Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Austria, Bulgaria, Poland, Belarus.
In the frames of the annual VI International Economic Forum BRIDGE 2009 were conducted the following sectoral sits, conferences, presentations and round tables:

Export potential of Armenia: analysis and evaluation
Speaker: president of Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia Arsen Ghazaryan.
In the works of this round table took part more than 100 participants, also the following speakers:
• vice-consul of Embassy of Brazil O. Seferyan;
• Rector of High School of Corporate Management at a government of RF S.Kalendzyan;
• Representative of CAPS company;
• The Embassy of Ukraine representative;
• General director of LOGOS EXPO Center S. Nazinyan.
During the works were discussed the following question: the government program for supporting the private sector. The priority sectors are: rework of agro products, renewal of light industry etc. There was mentioned that the prices for the cargo transportations were reduce for 30-40%, and it makes our products competitive.

The participants of round table offered to refer to the Ministry of transport for solving the question of the Armenian participation in the СМР Convention.

UNIDO PSD Development Programme Focus on development of productive and trade capacities of SMEs in the context of international financial and economic crises

During the presentation was represented the UNIDO general program of development. After the presentation the participants made questions regarding the UNIDO SME programmes in Armenia. Ms. Simonyan presented the projects in the field of Environment, i.e. POPs management and Cleaner production, as well as the project on funded by the UNHSTF and implemented in Pambak and Geghamasar communities, Gegharkunik region to support SME start-ups through entrepreneurship training and providing financial resources for start up businesses.
Mr. Dhaoui made comments on the issues discussed during the presentation and made the following suggestions for possible actions: Develop national upgrading and modernization programme, similar to what Tunisia has implemented with UNIDO support, establishment of SME-supporting Bank, support strengthening of Armenia’s export potential through the development of export consortia in sectors demonstrated export potential.

V International Economic Forum «BRIDGE 2008»
On 15-18 of February 2008 in the town Tsakhkadzor, skiing resort in Armenia, was conducted the most important event in the region - V International Economic Forum BRIDGE МОСТ 2008.
Every year in February in Tsakhkadzor gather the representatives of governmental and official bodies, businessmen from different countries. This is necessity - to meet each other once a year, discuss the problems, and emphasize the ways of further development, exchange the points of view, and make the acquaintance of Forum's new participants, in a word, to be a part of the most dimensioned event in the region. And the resort Tsakhkadzor in Armenia, which has become the constant place of Forum's conduction, completely associates with the informal communication of official and business circles.
The geographical residence of Armenia is the most favorable for the rapprochement between East and West, so, that is why the coincidence of the interests creates the good conditions for completing the agreements, establishing new relations, attracting of the investments.
The organizers of Forum are Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia and Center of International Integration Support MASTER. The Forum was conducted by the official support of Ministry of Trade and Economic Development of RA, Ministry of Foreign Affaires of RA, Central Bank of Armenia, Armenian Development Agency.In the context of the V International Economic Forum BRIDGE also was conducted the International conference: "Investment attraction of region - Competitiveness, diversification, and effectiveness".
The Agenda of V International Economic Forum BRIDGE was aligned on the discussion of the main theme: International Economic Cooperation - priorities, tendencies, and ability.
Within the limits of the V International Economic Forum BRIDGE 2008 were conducted: International conference, presentation of the National Competitiveness Council of Armenia, launched by the Decision of the Government of the RA, 5 round tables. In the Forum took part more than 300 participants, representatives of more than 200 official and diplomatic authorities, international organizations, business structures and companies from Armenia, Russia, Bulgaria, Austria, Czech Republic, Iran, Ukraine.
In the schedule of the V International Economic Forum BRIDGE 2008 also was signed the association agreement between Union of Manufacturers and businessmen (Employers) of Armenia (UMBA) and the Union of Czech and Moravian Production Co-operatives. This document will help to exchange the business ideas, in the framework of the agreement it is planned to realize the business information interchange, organization of business forums and two-side business visits. The main aim of the agreement is supporting of the economic cooperation development between Armenia and Czech Republic. According to National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia in 2007 the volume of commodity turnover between Armenia and Czech Republic was $18,3 million compared to $8,96 million in 2006.
On 16 of February 2008 was the official ceremony of grand opening of V International Economic Forum BRIDGE 2008. The special status of the Forum is confirmed by the welcome speeches of minister of trade and economic development of Armenia Mr. Nerses Yeritsyan, vice-governor of Stara Zagora Mr. Sergey Petrov (Bulgaria), president of the Union of Czech and Moravian Production Co-operatives Jan Wiesner, head of innovation activities management department of Moscow Government Vladislav Ashmarin, head of industry department of ministry of economic of Kaliningrad region Nikolay Murashov, head of UNIDO operations in Armenia (UN industrial development organization) Anahit Simonyan, entered during the plenary session.

IV International Economic Forum «BRIDGE 2007»
On 16 of February 2008 was organized the press tour for Armenian and foreign Mass Media representatives.
During the works of V International Economic Forum BRIDGE 2008 were also mentioned the following question:
Vice-governor of Stara Zagora (Bulgaria) Sergey Petrov has mentioned "Nabucco" great project - the construction of the natural gas pipeline that will transport natural gas from Turkey to Austria, via Bulgaria, and Armenia. The project will support the increase of investment and will have beneficial influence on the business sphere of all countries, participants of the project. At the present negotiations are carried out about the quota for private investors, and quote for countries-participants, which are the supposed incomes, how many new workplaces will be opened because of project.
Minister of trade and economic development of RA Nerses Yeritsyan has mentioned the project of electronic management system, which will support fulfillment of all programs supposed for coming 5 years. Also he represented the scheme of per capita GDP increase in Armenia, which is planned 10-12 thousand $ for 2020-2025. As predicted Ministry of trade and economic development, the growth of GDP in 2008 will be 10%, the capacity of foreign trade turnover will rise for 42%, the content of investments - for 55%, the income of inhabitants - for 26%. GDP per capita will be $3311 compared to $2844 in 2007. The level of unemployment will reduce up to 7.1%, the inflation will be 4%. Ministry of trade and economic development of RA forecasts that the share of gross investments in GDP will be 26.1%, and gross savings - 22.5%.
Another aspect, which was mentioned by Mr. Yeritsyan, is the plan of International Health protection center creation. This Center must be the general politic of the country. Armenia could be competitive in the providing of the high-tech medical services.
During the report on the theme "Institutional Approach for Enhancing Global Competitiveness of Armenia" the executing director of National Competitiveness Council of Armenia Gayane Afrikian mentioned, that it is planned to set an action agenda for enhancement of Armenia's competitiveness, productivity and its competitive position in world markets. It is supposed in the beginning to create the clusters in the sphere of finance, health care, science and education. In the economic it is supposed to create clusters in the energetic, construction, informational and telecommunication technologies, diamond cutting industry and in the jewelers, transport.
In the frameworks of the V International Economic Forum BRIDGE 2008 was foreseen the rest agenda, were organized: wine-testing - wine evening and an excursion to the skiing line.
The meaning of the economic forum for the present cannot be overemphasized and it increases from year to year. The number of participants, interest, and the event itself are guarantee of it. The skiing resort in Armenia the town Tsakhkadzor become the place of the Forum and is associated with the informal communication of official and business circles.
The geographical position of Armenia is considered to be a basis for the international cooperation between East and West.
On 16-19 of February 2007 in skiing resort Tsakhkadzor (Armenia) was held the IV International Economic Forum "Bridge 2007". Organizers: Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia and Center of International Integration Support MASTER by the official support of Ministry of Trade and Economic Development of RA, Ministry of Foreign Affaires of RA, Central Bank of Armenia.
By the results of IV International Economic Forum "Bridge 2007" in the frameworks of forum were conducted 6 round tables, in the work took part more than 300 participants, representing more than 170 official and diplomatic bodies, international organizations, business structures, and companies from Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Kazakhstan, Germany.
On 17 of February 2007 was the grand opening ceremony of IV International Economic Forum "Bridge 2007". During the plenary session were represented he following speeches: first deputy minister of trade and economic development of RA Mr. T. Davtyan, president of Central Bank of Armenia Mr. T. Sargsyan, deputy minister of transport of Poland Mr. M. III International Economic Forum «BRIDGE 2006»
On 17 of February was provided the press tour for the Armenian and foreign Mass Media representatives.
Also on 17 of February was organized the presentation of investment projects of participants.
On 25-28 of February 200 in resort Tsakhkadzor (Armenia) was conducted the international economic forum "Bridge 2005". Organizers: Union of Businessmen and Manufacturers (Employers) of Armenia and Center of International integration Support "MASTER" by official support of Ministry of Trade and Economic Development of RA, Ministry of Foreign Affaires of RA, Central Bank of RA.
By the results of international economic forum "Bridge 2005" more than 100 participants took part in the event: representatives of business circles of Armenia, Russia, Georgia, Iran, Canada, Belgium. Among participants there are representatives of ministries and governmental bodies, embassies, chamber of commerce and industries, international organizations, heads of enterprises.

II International Economic Forum «BRIDGE 2005»
On 25 of February were organized the meetings for the delegation from Stavropol region in the Ministry of Foreign Affaires of RA, Ministry of Trade and Economic development of RA and Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia. During these meetings both Armenian and Russian sides have discussed the following questions: attraction of the investments, creation of the joint companies, enlargement of the transport corridor between Yerevan - Stavropol, regular exchange of the information (lists of services and export products).
On 27 of February for the delegations were organized the excursion to the factory Beer of Yerevan "Kilikia", knitwear plant, Yerevan Telecommunication Research Institute etc.
The same day was organized the meeting with Armenian manufacturers in UMBA. During this meeting Russian and Armenian sides showed the great wish to deepen the established economical cooperation and signed the number of intention protocols.
By the results of forum were signed more than 10 agreements of delivery, and also more then 15 intention protocols, was arranged the project of intergovernmental agreement. On 23-26 of July 2004 in resort Tsakhkadzor (Armenia) was conducted the international economic forum "Bridge 2004". Organizers: Union of Businessmen and Manufacturers (Employers) of Armenia and Center of International integration Support "MASTER" by official support of Ministry of Trade and Economical Development of RA and Ministry of Foreign Affaires of RA.
By the results of international economic forum "Bridge 2004" more than 100 participants took part in the event: representatives of business circles of Armenia, Russia, Georgia, Iran. Among participants there are representatives of ministries and governmental bodies, embassies, chamber of commerce and industries, international organizations, heads of enterprises. On 24 of July was the official ceremony of grand opening of the international economic forum "Bridge 2004", plenary session, during the session were represented the welcome speeches: minister of trade and economical development of RA Mr. Chshmarityan - has read deputy minister Mr. Davtyan, governor of Ulyanovsk region Mr. Shamanov - has read deputy governor of Ulyanovsk region Mr. Nikiforov, president of Russian and International commodity producers Mr. Rijkov - has read director of Center of International Integration Support "MASTER" Mr.Nazinyan, president of Union of Businessmen and Manufacturers (Employers) of Armenian Mr. Ghazaryan - has read head of foreign relations department UMBA Mrs. Sarksyan.
